“In addition to a shared emphasis on time, light, and shadow, the works, in three different ways, suggest a living phenomena – a sense of ‘liveliness’ that is situated in different suspended, atemporal moments. In each work, there’s an uncertainty of before and after, a substitution for linear time for an unending moment (Adam uses the sunset, a time-bound phenomena that regularly repeats and is, in a way, an unending infinite cycle beyond time; the laser-like focus you bring to a single action divorces itself from a sense of cause (before) or effect (after); and Heather’s immaterial transfer between physical object-hood and digital image, the splitting of a life into two spheres, makes the piece’s existence perpetually simultaneous to itself, sort of beside time). In each piece, perhaps it is this transitivity, this motion between outcomes, that produces the very energy that keeps the moment suspended.”
